I am a Homemade Gourmet
An amusement park favorite made easy. Delicious golden
goodness rolled in cinnamon and sugar.
Add: Water, Egg. Yields approx. 24 churros.
In a deep skillet, heat oil over medium heat
until hot; approx. 10 minutes. Oil is hot enough when you drop a pinch of flour
in the oil and it sizzles right away without smoking. Empty cinnamon sugar
packet on a large plate; set aside.
In a medium saucepan over medium-high heat bring
water to a boil. Remove pan from heat and stir in churro mix until mixture
forms a ball. Add egg and stir until smooth and glossy.
Transfer dough to a pastry bag, freezer bag or
cake decorator fitted with large star-shaped tip. Pipe 4” strips of dough into
hot oil. Use a knife to break the dough from piping tip. Fry for 2 minutes on
each side until golden brown. Remove from skillet and place on paper towel.
Coat warm churros with cinnamon sugar mixture.
Yields approx. 24 churros.
1 Homemade Gourmet® Churro Mix with cinnamon sugar packet
1 cup water
3 cups vegetable oil for frying
