1. In a large deep skillet, cook sausage and chicken with oil until chicken juices run clear; do not drain.
2. In a large bowl, combine mix with water; stir until well blended. Add seasoned water, rice, and tomatoes to skillet. Bring mixture to a boil; stir occasionally.
3. Reduce heat, cover and cook until liquid is absorbed, approximately 20 minutes; stirring occasionally. Do not overcook.
For spicier flavor, add hot pepper sauce before serving.
* May substitute 1 pound cooked deveined shrimp for sausage and chicken. Add shrimp during last five minutes of cooking time.
